Trust Someone To Fix You’re Stuff And They BLOW IT?

Fix It

Stanley T is a little aggravated this morning. Last week, The Morning Mash Up’s boss told Stan he could upgrade his Blackberry Storm for him (besides the fact that the Storm is handicapped). After a couple days of fussing and fiddling with the phone, Stan’s Blackberry was in worse shape than before. He doesn’t get emails, texts, and it doesn’t charge anymore – it just stays at 20% battery life. So now, not only is Stan upset that his phone is not working, he’s even more upset because someone he thought he trusted with his phone made it worse.

Rich, Nicole and Ryan think this is a situation everyone gets stuck in at some point. You trust someone to fix something for you and they blow it. Or you let someone borrow something and they give it back to you in worse condition than when you handed it over. Whether it’s something as simple as a favorite shirt, or a piece of tech they claim they can fix, it’s never fun when your things get ruined. What happened the last time you let someone borrow something, or attempt to repair a piece ot tech?

Hey Stan, every smartphone whether it is a blackberry, apple based, or windows based has an option in the settings to do a master reboot which will return the phone to original setting as if you just recieved the phone from the store. There is also an option to update your phone programming when blackberry has programing updates. Your phone isn’t dead…….but hey if you think so I will be more than happy to buy it from you!! Also I know you just got that phone and I am sure you are NOT a stupid person so I am sure you do have insurance on the phone.

In the end, all of our possessions are just things. They can easily be replaced. How fondly we grow attached to small plastic cases wrapped around microscopic gold and copper connected circuits. The real value, and meaning of life, comes from how you treat your friends and being a decent human being who cares for others.

    Good luck with the phone.

As an IT technician, electronic gadgets whether that be computers, cell phones, mp3 players, what have you become a lot harder to fix. I often hesitate fixing a friend’s device not because I’m an asshole, but for the exact reason of not breaking it. You should be thankful that someone was willing to take time to look at your blackberry. Also, when is the last time you called a technician and said, “I just would like you to know that my machine/device/whatever is working great!”

I try to avoid borrowing things because i am one of those people who has very bad luck…if something doesn’t belong to me…garaunteed i’ll break it…

    For eg:

First day w/ my license, i borrowed my mother’s car….some lady drove into me

My sister borrowed me her new sweater…i shrunk it in the wash

The other day, i borrowed my sister’s ATV, another 4-wheeler drove into the back of it…while it was parked!!!

Unless you want to buy it…leave it alone :)

So, a few years ago I let my boyfriend at the time borrow my car. He was driving up a 20% grade hill in second gear in an automatic car, with the radio soo loud that he did hear the engine, he was doing (supposedly) about 60. He destroyed my car! Cracked the head, blew 2 pistons, just blew up my car. He never bothered to pay for it, he didn’t pay to have it towed to the mechanics (I did), he never even said sorry! What a jerk! But, he is an ex, and it is chalked up to a lesson learned! Never let anyone borrow your car if they don’t have their own!

I never ask anyone anymore to borrow any of their personal belongings. I borrowed a friend’s camcorder, and it worked fine in my presence, however, when I gave the recorder back I was blamed for somehow breaking it. I did not break it (that’s a promise!), but because it was in my hands last I was blamed for it, but I can tell you honestly I NEVER broke it, but I was blamed and I had to pay for the camcorder to be replaced. Now, I will NO longer borrow anything from anyone, because I don’t want to blamed for anything. I’ve had a few possessions of mine get damaged from letting my friends borrow them….DVD’s (damaged, sometimes misplaced and never found), CD’s (damanged and scratched), cell phone (broken into bits)…..Now I will no longer let any of my friends, nor family, borrow any of my possessions because they do not know how to take care of someone else’s property.
