Adele was a big winner at the Grammy’s this past weekend, winning 6 Grammy’s. During one of her acceptance speeches she said that the inspiration for this album was something everyone’s been through, a bad (or as she said, “rubbish”) relationship.
Rich was wondering whether or not Adele still thought of this ex whenever she sang these songs.
Nicole says no, they’re just songs and she’s moved on from it. She may have thought about her ex when she first wrote them & performed them but now she’s moved on.
Ryan says it depends on how strong the relationship was. When Katy Perry & Russell Brand were still together, they got into a big fight over how Katy was singing her song “Thinking Of You” because it had been written about her ex, Travie McCoy.
Stan agrees with Nicole. While it was very personal when she first wrote & recorded it, now it’s just another song on her set list.
