Should Stan Make Up A Different Story About How He Broke His Hand?

Stan has been walking around the last week with a cast on his hand because he broke a bone while rollerskating with his kids. Rich and Nicole think Stan should make up another story. Stan is a big, intimidating dude and to hear that he broke his hand rollerskating just sounds silly.

Stan is not embarrassed to say that he broke it while doing something with his kids because being a dad is the toughest job any guy can have.

Ryan thinks the story is fine and Stan shouldn’t change it. It’s kind of funny actually.

What do you think? Should Stan keep or change his story?

Ask A Brutha: Last Minute Valentines Day For A New Love

Today’s Ask A Brutha comes from Mike in Texas. He writes:

Stanley T I blew and I’ve waited til the last minute for Valentines Day but I just don’t know what to do. My girl and I have only been dating for a month so I don’t want to do something really over the top but I still want to do something. Help!

Nicole has no sympathy for Mike since he waited until the last minute, but cooking would be a good option. It’s sweet and won’t cost him a lot of money. Plus, it’s nothing too big that says I’m taking this relationship really seriously really quick.

Rich thinks Mike should whisk his woman away for a getaway weekend but Stan, Nicole, and Ryan think that’s too much too soon.

What would you suggest to Mike?

Do You Believe In The “Beat Them To The Punch” Mentality?

Stan’s son had an interesting situation develop last week. He got wind the his girlfriend of 3 weeks (middle school love….ahhh the memories) was going to dump him in front of all her friends in the middle of the hallway at school. So he beat her to the punch and broke up with her before she could break up with him.

Stan said he had a moment like that back in the day when we was working at another radio station. He got word that he was getting fired so he went to his manager and quit before they could fire him.

Do you believe in the “beat them to the punch” mentality? Would you get the best of someone before letting them get the best of you?

What Are The Subtle Insults People Tell You That They Don’t Even Realize Are Insults?

Yesterday, during The Morning Mash Up’s daily meeting, their intern Paula walks in. Stan looks at her and says, “You look tired. Everything ok?”. Not hello, or how are you, just “you look tired.” As soon as Nicole heard that she shot around and gave Stan the nastiest look. Paula meanwhile, is checking herself to see what about her appearance today makes her look like she’s exhausted.

Once she leaves the room Nicole yells at Stan for saying that to her. Stan argues that was just being honest and doesn’t understand why Nicole is so mad. Nicole says that telling someone they look tired is like telling them they look like crap. Ryan and Rich side with Nicole on this one and tell Stan that it’s true, “you look tired” is just code for “you look awful.”

It’s one of those subtle insults that people may not even realize is an insult.

What subtle insult, like “you look tired,” has someone thrown at you?

Is It A Waste For Stan To Buy Brand New $25 DVDs When He Hasn’t Seen The Movie?

Stan has a habit that annoys the crap out of Rich. Stan loves to buy DVDs, he says he collects them. But what bothers Rich is that Stan buys DVDs of movie he hasn’t seen. He buys them to have them and he buys them because he’s think he’ll like it and thinks he’ll watch it someday. Rich thinks it’s such a waste.

If you want to buy a movie you really like is one thing but to spend money buying something you’ve never watched makes no sense. Why not spend a buck or two renting it first to see if you like it.

Do you think Stan is nuts for buying DVDs of movies he’s never seen?
