Holy awesomeness The Morning Mash Up got a chance to catch up with the legendary Nicolas Cage!! Of course, they had to talk about all those rumors that he’s a vampire & immortal. They also talked about Bruno Mars’ cameo in Honeymoon in Vegas, Nic doing all these crazy stunts himself, what his movie “Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance” is all about, and where his inspiration for the “sub-par” suits in his movie “Family Man” came from.
Nicolas talks about how he deals with getting up early and how the fact that he’s doing so many things on so little sleep just perpetuates the rumor that he’s a vampire, no matter how much he says he isn’t.

Funny thing, if you google search “nicolas cage is” one of the options that comes up is “immortal.” Nic says that he doesn’t know why that comes up but he does know that sometimes he gets up and does not feel immortal. In particular, this morning because he was out late the night before celebrating the director of “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’s” birthday.

Ghost Rider 2: Spirit of Vengeance – Here’s the deal. Johnny Blaze has been on the run for 8 years in Eastern Europe because he doesn’t want to hurt anyone he loves. Then he gets recruited by a monk to find a boy named Danny, who’s the son of Satan, and get him exorcised before Satan can use him to change the fate of the world.

Nic says he tries to do as many stunts as the directors and studio will let him do. What’s especially motivating is that the director of “Ghost Rider”, Mark Neveldine, risks his life to film the movie. Neveldine does stunts himself, like holding on to a moving motorcycle in one hand and holding a camera in the other, just so he can capture a certain shot.

Does he know that one of the newest music sensations, Bruno Mars, was the adorable little kid in his movie “Honeymoon in Vegas” that was impersonating Elvis? He did not, but, Nic says that he’s heard from friends that he would like Bruno Mars’ style of music because there’s a lot of doo wop influence (which Nic loves) so he plans on checking him out.

Rich admits to Nicolas Cage that he kind of wishes “Family Man” ended differently and that Nic’s character chose the single life. Nic could see why Rich thought that (the single life brought him a lot of awesome suits) but that ultimately, the movie has a lot of heart and that he thinks the character chose the right path. But fun fact! The whole scene where Nic’s character flips out about the suits and calls them “sub-par” was inspired by real-life events. Back when Nic was filming “Honeymoon in Vegas” he was looking for hotel suites to throw a party. But the guy the studio had paired him up with to be his driver/bodyguard/whatever kept looking over the different suites they’d visit and saying they were “sub-par”. (The story is much funnier when you hear Nic tell it)
