School Bus Driver Sentenced For Drunk Driving With Kids On Board!

ALFRED, N.Y. (Associated Press) – A former western New York school bus driver has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for being drunk behind the wheel during a chaotic ride captured on the vehicle’s surveillance video.

Martha Thompson of Almond was also sentenced Monday in Allegany County Court to six months of electronic home monitoring and fined $1,000. She pleaded guilty Nov. 2 to driving while intoxicated and 37 counts of reckless endangerment, one for each of the Alfred-Almond school district students she transported on May 8.

The video from the bus shows several teenage girls pleading with Thompson to pull over after she missed a turn and drove the bus in reverse. The girls then led some of the younger students out the back of the bus as the 56-year-old Thompson yells at them to remain on board.

Holy cow…I can’t believe that. Those girls did a heck of a job trying to take control of the situation like that. They should be recognized!

  2. Nick says:

Yeah they did take control of the situation. Did you notice that the name on the back of that one girls shirt is ‘Thompson’?
