Ryan’s friend asked him if he wanted to go grab BBQ tonight for dinner and Ryan is slightly apprenhensive. He’s at his all time low weight right now, (if you don’t know, Ryan has lost over 100 pounds to date!) and he doesn’t want to go out and gorge on BBQ and then gain 10 pounds. On the other end, Nicole reminds the guys how she and Stan went with The Mash Up’s boss Kid Kelly to get some lunch and he convinced them to get one of those super healthy, all natural type drinks. And we’re not talking about yogurt and fruit natural, we’re talking wheat grass healthy. This drink looked like blended spinach and it tasted horrific. Stan looked like the drink was going to come back up his throat the minute he took a sip and Nicole, miss eat healthy herself, couldn’t even stomach it down.
Rich says that Ryan should just live his life and enjoy some BBQ and not sacrifice all the foods he loves to eat soley just to make sure he eats 100% healthy. This situation begs the question, where do you draw the line between eating healthy and eating tasty food. We’re all trying to eat a little healthier but do we have to sacrifice taste and force down food that tastes like cardboard and grass to do so? What’s the worst health food you’ve ever eaten? Where’s the line between living and enjoying your life and eating healthy?

It’s all about portion control. Have some BBQ. Just know your limit.
If you always feel like are having to eat healthy, you will feel cheated. Instead of gorging on pizza, I eat one piece. You want ice cream with the crowd, opt for small cup. Then you make up for those “splurges” by making healthy decisions the rest of the day or the next day: salads or bump up the exercise.
I was one of the unhealthy people. January 27 was a turn around day for me. I began eating more health consciously and began walking/running. I’ve lost 35 lbs to-date. I feel great and never feel cheated.
You can’t possibly gain 10 pounds from just one night of BBQ. If you went out every night this week? Maybe. You can go out and enjoy yourself every once in a while!
I have been in every possible diet and have definitely tasted some pretty nasty stuff! I used to get my food delivered frozen to my house every two weeks. Imagine how that tasted…not very good!
I think one night of eating out, food you don’t regular eat, won’t do
anything to ur weight as long as the next day u eat pretty healthy !!! But that’s just my opinion =)
Ok….I was the queen of calorie counting and exercising and yeah. I looked great and felt great. But it actually became a bit of an obsession. I learned that I dont even have to limit myself to one or two pieces of pizza or only a small serving. Our bodies are designed to be thin. I just listen to my body. If I over eat one day, then the next day my body will do it’s own compensation. It’s really quite remarkable.
I am losing weight right now. The most important thing for me was to get moving. I have been doing high intensity workouts every other day. I give myself little cheats like pieces of dark chocolate or wine and I am still losing weight! The most important thing is to just not eat BBQ or high fat foods all the time, but one meal isn’t gonna throw you completely off the wagon. I say live your life and be healthy MOST of the time.
I am losing weight now as well. I have cut calories and fat and started doing high intensity workouts twice a day. I do not deprive myself of the foods I used to eat on occasion, though. If I am out and everyone is eating pizza, I eat pizza. The most I have ever gained from a cheat day was 2 lbs and after eating right and working out the next day, it was gone again, so I wouldn’t worry too much about eating badly for one night. If you usually eat right and exercise, then the weight will stay off.
there are thousands of healthy food options that are out there that don’t taste awful. I think Ryan should go for the BBQ, one cheat day a week won’t kill you and it helps keep you on track the rest of you days. Dieting doesn’t have to mean continual self sacrifice.
One BBQ is not going to break him – if he eats way too much unhealthy stuff, tell him to sweat it out for an extra hour at the gym … he needs to treat himself sometimes, life is short and there will come a time when he’s like 88 and can only eat pureed baby food .. live a little, Ryan ! You look fantastic, keep it up !
First of all Ryan, you are amazing for losing all that weight this far.. I am a bride to be and my wedding is less than 8 months away so im on the diet right now too. If you continuously eat healthy one meal wont break you down. But if its something you do all the time then of course there might be an issue there. You absolutely cannot cut out all of the things you love completely because thats when you set yourself up for failure. In other words… EAT THE BBQ! then use the knowledge that you just ate it to work a little harder at the gym. Good luck to you!
