Rich’s girlfriend was in town last week, and she did something that Rich thought was a little strange. She used his toothbrush without asking him. Personally, Rich didn’t care but it’s one of those things that a lot of people would be freaked out about sharing. Ryan thinks that it’s OK if it’s your girlfriend or boyfriend, after all you make out with them, but anyone else is just gross. Nicole seconds Ryan’s thoughts but Stanley T, as we all know, does not like to share – whether it’s Mountain Dew or his toothbrush. Do you think it’s OK to share a toothbrush? Does it have to be a specific situation or maybe there is a timeline where you’re comfortable sharing it? Share your thoughts and experiences with everyone.

It is disgusting to share a toothbrush! I have been with my girlfriend for 8 years and she has used my toothbrush on several occasions. At that time i throw my toothbrush away and get a new one! It may just be my lesbian OCD, but the thought of all of the germs and bacteria that grow in a persons mouth makes my skin crawl! The whole point of brushing your teeth is so that I dont have to get your germs! I change toobrushes ever couple of weeks!
Its gross to share a toothbrush, and I can’t explain why…I mean, you kiss (and possibly other stuff) with your significant other. I just think that a toothbrush is meant to get all that other junk out of your mouth. And why would someone WANT to share a toothbrush anyway? Haha.
I am a dentist and besides thinking that it is gross to share a toothbrush, I know that caries and gum disease are caused by bacteria. So, those added to oral herpes and candidiasis are transmissible diseases. That would be the scientific reason not to share a toothbrush.
