Is It Ever Ok To Share Underwear?

Nicole’s friend stayed over her apartment this past weekend and had forgotten to pack any underwear so she borrowed a pair of Nicole’s. When Rich, Stanley T, and Ryan heard about this they thought it was a little weird. Even though it was clean underwear, it’s still underwear, and there a little something strange about wearing someone else’s.

Nicole didn’t think there was anything wrong with it. It’s pretty much like borrowing any other piece of clothing. You wear it, wash it, and give it back. The guys are still not completely sold on the idea. What do you think? Have you ever borrowed a clean pair of underwear from your friend? Is it just a girl thing? Would you let anyone borrow yours?

holy crap. Just heard the segment regarding the borrowed panties. My daughter & her best friend were in the car at the time, both are 14yrs. old. We all couldn’t understand why it seemed so weird to the guys. It’s totally like loaning a pair of PJ’s. After washing my husband’s underwear for over 22 yrs, and my son’s for 16 yrs, I can see why boys don’t share something like that. Totally not the same with girls. BTW, when Stan said something about underwear for girls being “moist” both girls in my car, with as much 14yr old disgust they could dredge up, were all, “omg! he’s being so gross!”

I didn’t hear this part of the show- but judging by the comments above, I wish I had! But… This is gross… You shouldn’t share anything that has your DNA on it. I wouldn’t even share a hairbrush!

Growing up, my brother and I shared underwear from the same drawer until we moved out of from our parents. What’s the big deal if it’s family?

Just to bring in some clinical point of view here, it’s not just a ‘dirty’ idea to most for no good reason. It’s been in american culture for this to not be acceptable for a while but recently some studies have been done about the germs and bacteria on our body from that area and how if you introduce someone else’s, it may cause you some medical problems. Normally just a small iritation but in some rare cases they found some people’s bacteria from there to be so different that it would actually cause infections in the skin itself.

I’d love to quote you some stuff on it but I cannot seem to find the articles I was ready a few weeks ago anymore.

Borrowing a pair of undies is fine!! It’s not like you are going to give the friend a pair of dirty ones… They’ve been washed! Plus there is always going the extra clean mile- there is always wearing them inside out, or use a thin maxi pad!

Actually I was in a predicament similar to this! I had to wear an outfit in thin yellow cotton that I’d made and forgot to bring my white pair of underwear. It was a yellow skirt and was wearing yellow tights so the white was fine with it but I forgot it at home and would not return for the duration of the weekend. Borrowed a brand new thong from my sister (she hadn’t even worn it yet) and when I mentioned it to my bf he totally freaked on me saying that was dirty! Which is completely ridiculous, but even if she had worn and washed em I’d have worn em, my sister an I are very close and I know how clean of a person she is…not to mention she has no social life. Anyone with any sense wouldn’t wear a dirty pair but a clean pair, let alone brand new pair, honestly guys grow up a bit! (the only other underwear I had were dark like black and pink, totally woulda shown through)

I would just wash out the ones I was wearing even if it meant washing them in the bathroom sink and immediately wearing them ’till dry. Underwear is never shared or bought second hand.

  16. jimmy says:

no, she should have went and bought new ones, i mean really, how much are they? seriously?

  17. Renae says:

OMFG that is sick…NEVER EVER SHARE UNDERWEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is one of the things u must buy and spend money on. EWWWWWWW!!!! I dont care if ur a guy or a girl….Thats just nasty. DONT share underwear! AGAIN EEWWWWW!!!

  18. Frank says:

Growing up with a twin, his was mine, mine was his. Who cared? No one.

When our younger brother got older and our size, he swiped ours all the time. Again, who cared? No one.

In college… you guessed it, roommates, fraternity brothers, etc. would borrow if needed. And no one cared.

None of us got sick, transmitted an STD, or became homosexual because we shared underwear ferchrissakes. This is one more example of our pre-sanitized and plastic-wrapped American culture run amuck. By the logic exhibited here, no one should ever share a towel or a washcloth either, even after washing them. And that communal shower scrubby, watch out for bubonic plague! What a crock.

It’s a called laundry, people, it works if you do it right. Unclench already.

  19. Amy says:

Most girls wear panty liners in their underwear even when it’s not their time of the month. Loan the undies, with a liner, and all should be fine.
