Do you ever feel like the days you have a big event or meeting is the day that you’re going to spill something on yourself? That’s how Rich feels. Yesterday, when the Mash Up grabbed breakfast, Rich got his usual breakfast wrap and also got a side of salsa. As they’re eating, he spills the entire side of salsa on his lap but thankfully, there was a napkin there to block it from staining his clothes. Normally, he wouldn’t have cared but his was meeting up with friends after work for one of their birthdays.

But he wondered, if he had spilled it on his clothes, would it have been worth it to get a new pair of pants or should he have just sucked it up for the rest of the day. He thought it wouldn’t be worth it to buy new clothes but Ryan, Nicole, and Stan all said no way. You spill something on yourself before an event, you buy new clothes. You don’t want to walk into a meeting or get together all stained.

What do you think? If you spilled something on yourself before a big meeting or event, do you suck it up & deal with the stain or do you buy new clothes?

Rich came up with a theory that he wanted to run past everyone. There is a movie out there called Double Jeopardy that stars Tommy Lee Jones & Ashley Judd. Basically, the movie is titled after a rule that says you can’t be tried for the same crime twice. If you get tried for a murder (that you happen to be guilty of) and the jury finds you not guilty. You can not be tried for that murder ever again, even if more evidence comes out that proves it was in fact you.

Rich was wondering if you could apply this rule to relationships. For example, if you and your significant other got into a fight because they were out really late with their friends and never called you. But he paid the price, you yelled at them, they apologized, bought an “I’m sorry” gift, and whatever else they did to end the fight and stop you from being mad. Rich thinks that if you apply the double jeopardy rule, since your significant other paid the price, you should never be able to bring that up to them again.

What do you think about this? If you got into a fight about something and went through the ringer for it, can you pull a double jeopardy and not be allowed to fight about it ever again?

Rich got on Stanley T’s case again this morning (surprise surprise) but this time the issue was ringtones. Stan has a different ringtone for every single person that calls him and Rich doesn’t understand why. The only people that get ringtones are young kids or people over 50. Nobody buys ringtones anymore because with all the emails, texts, and phone calls it’s obnoxious to hear your phone go off every two seconds. That’s why most people leave their phones on vibrate.

Nicole is ok with leaving it on a one-ring-vibrate-the-rest-of-the-time situation but her sister downloads a ton of songs and sets a different song for each person and it’s super annoying.

Stan says he had to put his phone on ring because since he wears baggy clothes, he doesn’t always feel his phone vibrate and he’d miss calls.

Ryan agrees with Stan. He doesn’t always feel his phone vibrate and besides, ringtones are part of having fun with your phone.

What do you think? As an adult, having your phone set on anything but vibrate make you lame?

Last week, The Mash Up took their interns out to lunch as a thank you for all the work they did and they ordered some mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. The mozzarella sticks come out and the first person to have one is Stanley T who after taking one bite, dips the bitten off end into the marinara sauce. Ryan and Nicole couldn’t believe Stan double dipped.

Now, if he had done this at breakfast with the rest of the Mash Up, no biggie, they’re all really close and share stuff all the time. But to double dip with strangers around or people that you know but don’t know very well, not cool.

What do you think? Is it ever OK to double dip?

Rich had a question for the rest of the Mash Up. First, during the Trayvon Martin shooting case there was all this talk over Geraldo Rivera making comments about the fact that Trayvon was wearing a hoodie when he was shot and that made him look suspicious. Then, there’s all the bickering from Wall Street over the fact that Mark Zuckerberg wore a hoodie to meet with investors.

What Rich wants to know is, since when is the hoodie considered “thug” gear? Since when did it get that reputation? Everyone Rich knows owns at least one hoodie.

Why do you think the hoodie has gotten such a bad rep?

Ryan saw a really interesting article yesterday about how mystery vacations becoming more and more popular. Now when he says mystery vacations he doesn’t mean one person knows and the other doesn’t. It’s a complete surprise to everyone involved. How it works is a company has you take a survey to see what kind of vacations you like (beach, adventure, outdoors, sightseeing, etc), then you pay them and they plan your entire vacation for you. You only find out what you’re doing and where you’re going once you get there. Ryan loved the idea of this and would do it in a heartbeat but he wanted to know how the rest of The Mash Up felt about it.

Rich thinks that’s an awesome idea. It’s an adventure and the mystery of it makes it one you’ll never forget. Nicole doesn’t know how she’d feel about it. On one hand, it’s definitely exciting, but if you’re paying for the vacation you’d like to make sure it’s actually something you really want. Stan, as we can all guess, would NEVER do this. You couldn’t pay him to go on a mystery vacation (well, maybe you could pay him but it’d have to be a lot).

Would you ever go on a mystery vacation?

Rich asked Ryan, Stan, and Nicole their opinion about forced run-ins & encounters, or mild stalking as Ryan puts it. When Rich was single, he would sometimes force a run-in with a pretty girl he saw on the street or if it was a girl he was somewhat friendly with, he’d figure out her schedule and happen to “run into her” at her usual coffee spot or something. Another example, you see a pretty girl walking down the street and she stops at a newsstand to get something. You weren’t planning on stopping but you stop and stand behind her hoping to start a conversation. Or perhaps you see a girl in the drugstore and so you linger in the drugstore until she gets in line and then you get in line after her.

Nicole thinks this is super creepy and has never done this with a guy. Ryan and Stan admit they’ve done what Rich has as well and that most girls probably don’t realize that the “random encounter” they had was a guy doing exactly what Rich is talking about.

Do you think this is creepy? Have you ever done this before?

Today’s Ask A Brutha comes from Elvis. He writes….

Hey guys, love your show. Here I have a question for you polls. I don’t know if it was ever posted, but here it is. Would you unfriend someone from Facebook or any other service because your significant other wants it?

Stan says this happened to him and he told his wife that he wouldn’t do it. The girl his wife wanted him to unfriend was someone Stan had known and been friends with ten years before he met his wife.

Ryan’s philosophy is that if you’re dating someone and they ask you to choose between them and someone else, they will be the one that doesn’t get chosen because they shouldn’t be asking you to choose in the first place.

What do you think? Would you unfriend an ex if your current boyfriend or girlfriend asked you too?

Ryan saw an article this morning about Yahoo!’s CEO who apparently is “stepping down” because the company found out he padded his resume, saying he had an extra degree in something that he didn’t actually have. Rich and Ryan were surprised that the company asked him to step down because it’s not like CEO is a job you fill out an application for, he obviously proved himself and worked his way to earn that spot. Nicole agrees, saying it seems a little silly to fire him now. If it had been soon after they hired him initially, then yes, she could understand it.
