Do You Know A Sore Loser (ahem...Serena Williams)

Serena Williams lost her semi-final match at this year’s US Open match because she yelled at a line judge for calling a foot foul (stepping over the line before the serve) on her previous serve. Serena, who is a giant, yelled down the very little line judge to the point where she had to report to the chair judge what had happened and the rules dictated that Serena lost a point, which gave her opponent the match.

It was eventually shown that Serena had in fact NOT stepped over the line and that the line judge made a call. That being said, Serena shouldn’t have come down on the official, especially so quickly. She started her tirade with “I’m going to shove this ball down your f—— throat”.

Clearly Serena is a bit of a competitor and somewhat or a sore loser. If the call had been right she would’ve felt much worse. Do you know someone who is so competitive and a sore loser where whenever something doesn’t go their way they throw a temper tantrum like Serena Williams did?

I can actually understand her anger and frustration. I wouldn’t consider her a sore loser, I would consider her a person was mad for a wrong call. And everyone has to remember that this was the US Open, one of the biggest tennis tournaments in the season. And to lose over a stupid call would make me slightly PO’d at the line judge for the absolutly stupid call too.

What Serena should have done was challenged the call and just simply replayed the point, Yes. But most people still would have said some words to the person either way.

Unfortunately, you can not challenge a foot fault, only a line call. Perhaps after this incident, they will develope the technology challenge foot faults.

Anyway, the whole thing was totally suspect and totally “serena-esque”. Serena knew she was down two match points. She had lost the previous two games, and her serving was a disaster. I think she wanted an out. She yelled at the lines person and nothing happened…so she went back and yelled again until they finally deducted the point which gave the match to Clijsters. She was not apologetic and was even seen laughing with Venus after the game. She wanted out, and this was a really unsportsman-like way to go. She should have lost fair and square and now she has anihilated her reputation.

I too play tennis (surprise surprise) and I see women lose and then bitch mercilessly about allll the stress in their life and all of the reasons they played like poop. Just lose graciously and go home.
