Ryan went out last weekend to a bar with his old friend from Nebraska. While they were sitting there a cute girl walks up next to them to order a couple drinks. Ryan’s friend gets her attention and says to her “Hey, this is my friend Ryan. We go back a long time.” The girl looks a little confused and then said “are you telling me this so I know it’s OK to hit on him?” Ryan’s friend responded, “Yeah, exactly. He’s single. You should hit on him.”
Thankfully, the girl didn’t get too weirded out by it and laughed it off. She and Ryan ended up talking most of the night. But that could have ended up a lot differently, and much more awkwardly. Ryan was a little taken a back by his friend approach, and wasn’t sure if he liked being put out there like that. The girl could have taken that to mean Ryan was desperate and been completely turned off.
What would you do if you’re friend, aka wing man or girl, blatantly told someone you were single and to hit on you? Totally acceptable or undeniably awkward?

No, it is awesome. I have a friend I’m contemplating doing the same thing to! She’s looking out for you and was trying to help you out because if it was just you and her then every girl in the place is going to assume you are “together”. She probably appreciated the honesty from your friend. If that had happened to me in my single days, I would have been all over that, if only for the story to tell!
I think that it is acceptable. I mean, isn’t life about taking chances or risks? She was simply trying to help out her friend! (:

That is a girlfriend looking out for her girl. Your friend saying we go way back ment, you were a good guy and wasn’t a jerk. That why the new friend bluntly asked what she did. It was one of those joking but serious thing. That’s why you and her talked the majority of the night. The new friend may have recently got out of a realationship or attracks the “wrong kind of guys”. The common friend is just that, being a good friend.
All I got from that story was Ryans friend tossed up a softball for Ryan and he missed it! your friend totally just broke the ice for you. she got a girl laughing for you… all you have to do is jump in and crack a joke about ur CRAZY friend (she will laugh again) then start talking about her… GOD RYAN! lol… I wish I had your friends, I would get laid everytime im out! hahaha
