Ryan read a story yesterday that there is an animal activist out there who is trying to get people to stop calling their pets “pets”. He wants them to be called “animal companions”. Rich, Nicole, Ryan, and Stan all think this is crazy.
The guys is saying that using the word “pet” implies ownership, is demeaning, and pet are supposed to be your best friends. The problem that The Morning Mash Up sees with this logic is that in actuality, you do own them. You bought them. Nicole says that animals are not even understanding the fact you’re calling them pet.
Is this guy out of his mind or are you for the idea of calling pets “animal companions” instead?
They’re pets! Thats what they are thats what they’ll always be. Whoever is asking for that is extremely lonely and needs to remember that humans ALSO provide companionship….
That’s ridiculous. A pet is a pet, even if you treat it like a child. Let’s start calling our girlfriends/boyfriends our “human companions” then.

Uhm.. this dude is nuts! Call them whatever you like but at the end of the day we do, indeed, OWN them. Pet and Animal Companion kinda mean the same thing to me anyways… Our pets have always been more like family members rather than just an animal we own. They sleep in the bed with us, cuddle on the couch with us, we worry about them when they get sick or hurt, and we get very upset when they pass away. These animal activists need to get lives and find something better bitch about lol. *shakes head*

I love animals and do animal rescue but this is over the top! Get a life and fight for something worth fighting for. Fight for legislation to make animal cruelty penalties more severe instead of fighting to call your dog or cat “animal companions”!!!
