Are you kidding me!? There’s nothing to worry about with the Swine Flu? Really? It’s killed over 100 people internationally in less than a week. The CDC has activated their EOC. It’s a strain that the medical field hasn’t seen before and they admit to “didn’t see this coming”. Homeland Security has declared a national public health emergency. And the WHO (World Health Organization) has raised the pandemic alert. But there’s nothing to worry about!?! REALLY!!!

I was afraid of West Nile Virus…and SARS…and Bird Flu.

Swine flu now? Not so much. There have been no reported fatalities in the States. I think the fatalities probably have more to do with people with already compromised immune systems being infected and/or access to healthcare.

We need to be mindful, careful and aware of what is going on with the swine flu. I’m from Charleston, SC and am visiting my daughter in Houston, TX who is about to have her first baby. I am a little nervous for them and myself, but I will not lock myself up in the house in fear. I will pay attention to my surroundings and follow the guidelines/warnings to protect us. If I am sick I will stay home/ see doctor and I hope that others will respect my family in the same way. We need to stay in control of the situation rather than it controlling us!
