Our Twitter (follow The Morning Mash Up HERE) pal Josh tweeted something this weekend that got us thinking. He said “Ever wonder if kids still get caught passing notes in high school & middle school these days? Or do they just text? Sad thing is even as a guy I tried folding notes to impress the ladies. A right of passage that is probably dead.” Most of you probably remember writing and passing notes in class. There was such an art to it, in the folding of the note and how you passed it to someone secretly and very stealth like. Now, since almost every kid in middle & high school has a cell phone these days, does anyone write notes anymore? Rich thinks is definitely one awesome art form that has been lost. Another awesome lost art form? The mix tape. Remember rewinding and fast forwarding, trying to set up the dual cassettes just right so that one song started right after another? How about the simple communication between guys and girls? It used to be that a guy had to call a girl up, on her house phone where you knew her parents were likely to answer no less, and talk to her to ask her out. Now, all a guy has to do is text a girl or IM her. It’s easy to have the gall to ask a girl out hiding behind text or IM but try doing it face to face or over the phone. It’s a lot more nerve racking and there are definitely a lot more guts needed. What else do you guys think could go into the category of “The Lost Art of Awesome Things”?

Lost Arts – learning to type on a manual typewriter. Mimeograph machines
My parents always talk about the days when they left for the day with friends and didn’t have to tell their parents where they were going or when they would be coming back.
It was a different time back then, not as many scary or bad things were going on in our society and your parents didn’t worry so much about you. As long as you were home for dinner you were pretty much ok to go as you please
One of the things that is definitely lost is pubic hair (thank God) hahaha, love your show guys.!!!!
As a teacher I can tell you that the kids still pass notes AND they text. They even still do that stupid “my friend wants to know if you’ll go out with him”. If they are in the same class it is a note, if not they have to send a text right then. It can’t wait until between classes.
lol Peter’s comment=make my day.
I remember those days. You pass a note half way across the room to a girl stating: Do you like me please check yes or no.. lol
