Watching Thriller for the 1st time as a little kid.. gotta say we were freaked out a tad lol then it was cool the 2nd time around! i love a lot of his songs! he will truely missed!

  2. Shannon says:

I was around 6 or 7 years old living in Wisconsin when a huge Tornado ventured into our town. We ran down into the basement to take cover. My sister realized she forgot her Michael Jackson Poster upstairs and bolted upstairs to get it before my mom and dad could grab her. A couple minutes later my sister ventures back down holding onto it for dear life. To think the poster was more important than her life. Too bad she doesn’t still have the poster.

  3. Celeste says:

When I was in third grade, my teacher Sister Christine, always played MJ songs (1994). I thought she was the coolest nun ever, and he was waaaaaaaaaaaaay cool. We learned how to moonwalk in class and dance thriller for Halloween.

  4. Maurilio says:

Although Michael Jackson was before my time, I remember all the days I would just blast out his music. My best friend and I would always sing his songs, and then we would just compare him with the cover songs of his songs. He was a good singer and an excellent dancer. RIP.

  5. Adrienne Rodriguez says:

Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, if you grew up in the 70s – 80s, you at one point in time were influenced by him. My most favorite memory of him when when he did the moonwalk on stage! My favorite song was Billie Jean!! Then Thriller came along!! I remember watching the making of Thriller over and over again! RIP Michael!

  6. Robin says:

I remember waking up to find Santa Clause brought me the Thriller record! It was the best Christmas ever.

  7. Jen says:

I just know I am in shock! What a horrible week in entertainment with him, Ed McMahon, and Farrah! I can remember running and hiding behind the chair in the living room as a kid when Thriller came on b/c it scared me. Also, I must say my favorite songs of his are Man in the Mirror and Dirty Diana. I still have my original Thriller album and love it, but those are the songs that I can’t get tired of. RIP all 3 celebs…wow…I feel like this is one of those…where were you when “insert famous person” died.

  8. Regine says:

I remeber when I was 10, my older sister was 16 and doing a talent show at school. Her and the group of kids doing this with her picked the song “Thriller” . I remember watching them practice out on our lawn (we lived out of town thankfully!). I idolized my sister at the time so that became my facorite song for years. RIP MJ

  9. Nicki says:

I can’t believe Michael is gone!!! I remember my sister and I riding around with our heads hanging out the window signing Beat It! What a great legend!!!!!

  10. Randy says:

Just like when Princess Diana died, I will remember where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news of his passing. I grab my crotch now in memory of one of the greatest pop icons of our time. R.I.P. Michael.

  11. Jill says:

When i was in middle school a teacher of mine played (Man in the mirror) for the class. He wanted us to listen and feel the words. That is a memory I never forgot. Michael Jackson was a great artist and will be missed. i still have the album THRILLER. I use to listen to it daily as a child of the 80″s. What great times when the music meant so much and was so different. He will never be forgotten.

  12. Renee says:

I am so sad to hear about the passing of Michael Jackson. I think the whole world is in a small state of shock. Michael Jackson was an immense talent, entertainer, and performer. He was not only an amazing singer, but incredible dancer.

I have been listening to his music since I can remember, and can recall the first music video I saw, “Thriller”- and I wasn’t scared, rather as a young 5 year old was amazed and the costumes, make up and the dancing! I was a dancer for 15 years and Michael was such an inspiration- there was no way you could be a student and no have had at least one performance to a Michael Jackson song.

Michael- thank you so much for all of your hard work and dedication. You will truly be missed, God Bless.

  13. Karen says:

Oh the media is going to have a field day with this. I remember my friends and I counting down the days to the Thriller music video. It was an MTV era that doesn’t exsist anymore. Now all you see on MTV is “reality t.v.” (sorry Nicole but it’s not cool). I wish this would have set a standard for MTV and we still had this kind of entertainment from the music industry but Michael Jackson was it. What’s my point? Maybe no one could out do him?

I watched the Video this evening. I’m not shocked by any of this but I am sad. He’s been visibly sick for a long time and the only thing that shocked me was when he started selling tickets for concerts recently. Poor guy.

  14. jorge cosme says:

  16. scotty goldsmith says:

Getting to see him live in KC on the Thriller tour back in the 80′s was amazing. I was maybe 10 years old and still remember how awesome it was to be at the show. A very sad day to lose such a tremendous talent and icon to the industry.

  17. Michelle Thompson says:

I got to see Michael back in the 80′s on the Thriller tour in Detroit and to this day it is one of the best concerts ever. This is a very sad day!

  18. jillian says:

It is such a shock to learn that music has lost such a great artist. I used to listen to MJ going up. I’ve performed both Thriller and Billie Jean for my dance recitals. My wishes go out to his family in this tough time. Always and forever long live the King of Pop.

  19. Amy says:

When my daughter was born over a year ago, I would play Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You” to her and rock her to sleep, she loved it! His music will always have a place in our hearts.

  20. Janna says:

I grew up listening to Michael and he will be greatly missed! RIP Michael! The King of Pop will never be forgotten!

  21. Kim says:

I still remember the premier of the Thriller video. My Mom was so cool that she let me invite over a BUNCH of friends for it. We had a slumber party and stayed up all night trying to learn the dance (from memory, of course, since we didn’t have a vcr or any way to tape it yet! LOL). It was the coolest thing ever!

    RIP, Michael!

  22. tracy jones says:

When I graduated from high school, Beat It was THE song. Of all the graduation gifts I got, my most cherished was the Thriller cassette (no cd’s then). I literally wore that cassette out that summer. Every time I hear a song from Thriller, it brings back fond memories of my teenage years. Rest in peace, King of Pop!

  23. While our family was traveling through Mexico in 1987, we put our van on a ferry. Whoever moved the van stole a cooler and our Thriller tape! So very sad! Loved that tape! Condolences to Michael’s family and I hope he is finally at peace!

  24. Kathy says:

an icon from the 70′s …he will be very much missed…..we lost 2 70′s icon this sad day …

  25. Sepricia says:

I remember watching the Motown special and watching Micheal Jackson do the Moonwalk. It was the most amazing thing I had ever seen on tv. I swear I thought he was floating on air. No matter what has been said about him in the past you cant deny he was one of the most talented singers, songwriters, and dancers of the eighties and he will be missed. Very missed.

  26. Rose says:

I remember in the early 80′s, hanging out a club called The Caves on Staten Island. I guess I was 19 or so. They had a a wall-sized screen where they showed music videos. I always loved when Thriller came on! I would leave the room where the band was playing, and go into the video room, and be mesmerized! The band couldn’t compete with Michael Jackson’s Thriller playing, bigger than life!

  27. Bridget says:

MJ was such a BIG part of everyone’s life it’s hard to pick out one thing. He was an amazing entertainer! Truly the King of Pop. It’s hard to say what one song was my favorite as I had to so many but one that stands out is Smooth Criminal. He was a big part of my life in high school and I wish I saw him in concert.

  28. Scott says:

I remember dancing with one of the first girls I liked to “Man in the Mirror” in middle school. Michael Jackson was one of the best ever and he will be greatly missed forever. I wish I would have gotten the chance to see him live.

  29. Peter says:

Sure it is very sad that Ed, Farrah, and MJ passed away, but why doesn’t the Media give the same attention and celebration of their contributions to soldiers that are fighting and dying for us every single day!!??!!

  30. Tonie says:

I remember being 11 years old, in sixth grade, and passing by the bookstore, and all you saw were Michael Jackson everything. My first glimpse of Michael was the red jacket, the glove and the glitter socks. He was amazing. He will truly be missed, but his talent and his legend will always live on. He changed the face of music, the face of dance, and even the face of music videos. He will forever be King. Rest in peace, Michael. May you find happiness in heaven.

  31. Cindy says:

I have two fun stories…The premier of Thriller on Friday Night Videos…my friend and I had organized a sleepover and we were all excited about seeing this video for the first time…well…3am rolled around and we both woke up…needless to say we had fallend asleep and missed the premier! :( Growing up where I did we didn’t have cable so it was about 4 years later before I actually got to see the video!
Then in 1988 I “camped” out for 2.5 days just to get one ticket to see MJ in concert…I did this on my own and almost missed final exams in highschool because of it! I went to the concert that October and saw the most amazing concert of my lifetime! Well worth the online status and going all by myself to the show! MJ was the greatest in my humble opinion!

  32. Patricia says:

Two years ago a co-worker and I were driving to a a presestation we were making 1 hour away. I had a ’93 Taurus only a radio and cassette player, and I had just found my Dangerous cassette! One of the first albums I bought. We were so excited and ended up listening to ‘Remember the Time’ the entire way there and the enitre way back. That’s my jam!

  33. Leanne Favreau says:

I always liked Michael Jackson, especially when I was a kid, I had a Michael Jackson doll, glove, t-shirts and buttons! Every halloween I still look forward to watching the Thriller video, its not Halloween with out it! We were at a wedding social last weekend and Billie Jean came on, it still packs the dance floor!

  34. Amy Marquez says:

I remember helping my great-grandmother clean her house when I was a teenager in the late ’80s. She had the radio on and “Beat It” was playing. She knew EVERY word and danced around her living room with a broom singing it.

  35. BENZ says:

I didnt grow up listening to Michael Jackson bc im only 24, but I do know how much his music has effected not only my interest in music but many artist over the years. He set a standard that every artist wants to acheive. He shaped the face of music for all of us. Without his music I know we wouldnt have as many talented artist as we do now. He is and always will be an inspiration to any artist. His life and his music will be remember for always. He truly is the KING OF POP!!!!
RIP Michael Jackson you will be missed greatly by millions around the world.

  36. Kathleen says:

Find me someone between the ages of 30-40 and I’ll show you someone who knows the lyrics start to finish to Thriller. I remember a friend in grade school had the ‘Making Of’ video and we would stay up and watch it over and over until we had the whole thing memorized. And all that hardwork came back to pay off big time in college when Homecoming fell on Halloween the fraternity my sorority was paired with that year wanted a Thriller-type dance for when the house was being judged and I was able to bust it out for everyone. MJ made me a rock star in that moment. Plus, if you can listen to Smooth Criminal and not have it stuck in your head for the rest of the day, you are a better person than me. It is like a little part of my childhood died last night.

  37. Kimmee says:

Yes most of us grew up with Micheal Jackson, and we remember him during a happy time in our lives, but how many kids remember him as a molester? Why are we celebrating the life of a pedophile?? YES he was a pop star and YES he molested children…. does being a pop star make molesting children forgivable? Not in my book…..

  38. Darla says:

When I was 9, the first album I ever received was The Jackson Five’s first record with Michael Jackson with the songs ABC and Rockin’ Robin. Rockin’ Robin was the first song I ever memorized and he was really my first introduction to music as we know it now. I loved his music then and I love it now. I have every record he has ever made! Regardless of his personal trials/tribulations he leaves us with a legacy that has inspired music to be what it is today. We need to remember him for that.

  39. BENZ says:

Ok, I cant believe that anyone would want to point out the bad things someone may or may not have done in their lives after they have passed away. I would not want anyone to disrespect myself or my family by pointing out mistakes I may or may not have made in my past. Michael Jackson influence music more than anyone in the world. He set a standard that most artist only dream of reaching. He truly is the King of Pop. So lets please remember him for the contributions he made in his life to not only music but as a humanitarian as well. May he rest in peace and his music live on forever in our hearts and on the airwaves.
