Do You Know A Halloween Scrooge? Are You One?

Wow, Not Dressing Up For Halloween At All Would Be Better Than This T-Shirt

Rich, Nicole and Ryan learned something new about Stanley T today. Stan is a Halloween scrooge! He won’t let his kids trick or treat, or let them carve out pumpkins because it’s too messy. His keeps using the phrase “wait until you have kids” as part of his excuse. Stan also wears the same costume every year because he claims “it’s enough. We call it LAME.

Rich also called out his dad for being a Halloween scrooge. His dad is purposely planning to not be home on Halloween so he doesn’t have to deal with trick-or-treaters. Even worse, his dad might just stay home and pretend to not be there to avoid “answering the door ever 5 minutes.” Rich doesn’t understand how his dad doesn’t like Halloween.

What is there not to like about pumpkin carving, apple picking, candy, costumes, and parties? Nicole agrees – she’s always loved Halloween. Ryan’s a big fan of Halloween too, but not everyone loves the holiday. Rich thinks that if someone doesn’t like Halloween then they’re a scrooge and their lame. True or false? Do you think there are any good reasons to not like Halloween?

STAN!! Why can’t you let your kids go to houses that you know!!?? I get your point about strangers, but come on, let ‘em live a little bit, you or your wife should be going w/ them anyways! Give it a try :)

My kids would think that i have lost it if i would not let trick or treat it is a family thing i would never let them go alone. The rule is that you can not eat anything until we get home . Stan your kids would have so much fun !!!! :) :)

i tell my kids they can have it untill we get home , and if we know the person then they can have that one candy , but i split it in two piles one for me and one for the kids ..

I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a scrooge, but I do have a problem with inconsiderate and rude trick-or-treaters. If they are incapable of remembering their manners, they don’t get candy. Thank you is all I’m asking for!!! My parents made sure my sister and I said “thank you” every time we received candy and if we didn’t they took out a handful of our candy!

I find that really sad that Stan doesn’t let his kids trick or treat… :(

I take my girl trick-or-treating, but for sure she doesn’t eat ANY of the candy until I’ve gone through it all to make sure it’s sealed. Sorry to the people who take the time to put together those little baggies of candy, but they hit the trash in my house.

I think if you dont’ take your kids trick-or-treating you should have a halloween party for them!

I think Stan hasa very valid point, which is why most neighborhood community centers or churches have safe parties that allow the kids to dress up and have spooky fun aand trick or treat without the danger associated with going house to house…Stan you have NO excuse now haha

Stan, I am a parent of two. My kids are a little older, however, my daughter feels she still needs to trick or treat. What I have done for several years is take them to local Church festivals on Halloween. They get candy and they get to have fun playing games and costume contests in their costumes. Then by the time we are done with all that they are to tired to even want to go Trick or Treating. The church I attend does what is called Trick or Trunk… they set up their cars in the parking lot and the kids go trunck to trunck and get candy. They also have games and jumpies. It is a safe way to allow your kids to still experience the whole halloween thing… I agree with you on the Pumpkins they are a mess… Just buy the plastics ones… They last longer…

I’m with you Stanley T. It’s easy to comment when you don’t have kids.
However now that my kids are a little older I do let them do the whole thing and it is fun for them. Did you carve pumpkins and trick or treat as a kid?

I LOVE HALLOWEEN and the wiccan new year in my case.I hate how people associate the holiday with evil and devilish intention.I love to carve pumpkins and eat the seeds, screw the general opinion. There are safe ways to celebrate.I’d t-o-t but the churches are the only really boring thing around here.I dont have kids or plan on it but if I DO we will cosplay every year.
