This past weekend, Rich’s girlfriend’s best friend (follow that?) almost had her birthday surprise ruined. Her husband had planned a surprise trip to New York City for her through Orbitz, but recently had to change the dates of the trip. Now, Orbitz was explicitly instructed to not call her, in order to not ruin the surprise, in reference to this trip but they didn’t listen. As Rich’s girlfriends’s friend was out, the company called her to confirm the date change, but thankfully she wasn’t able to hear the call very well and just dismissed it and hung up.
In Ryan’s case the surprise actually did get ruined. His friend had bought an engagement ring and the place where he bought it mailed a post card thanking him for his business. Guess who saw the postcard, yup the girlfriend. This is why Rich is so careful about mentioning plans around people, he’s afraid the person he’s talking to doesn’t know about them and that it’s supposed to be a surprise. When has someone ruined a surprise for you? Have you ever ruined the surprise for someone?

My mom once bought me a brand new bed for Christmas, we were in the store she ordered it from and the lady at the counter asked if I was enjoying my new bed. My mom was FURIOUS, but I just laughed, thanked her and told her to relax (I was 17 at the time, it’s not a toy and I was a big girl now). So yeah, anyone working in retail, shut yo mouth when it comes to people’s purchases as the saying goes silence is golden.
I was working in columbus, ga and my wife, girlfriend at the time was living in birmingham, al. I had told her I was going to be working the entire weekend but really was on my way to propose to her. I made it to her apt complex and was on the phone with her when some lady locked her car, causing the horn to go off. My wife heard it through the phone and from the parking lot and she knew i was there before I knocked on the door
